Inklings Student Groups
Why start an Inklings student group at your university?
The Inklings are a group of authors who dove into life with a vibrant awareness of joy and suffering, virtue and vice, good and evil, and adventure. What better place is there to read their works and experience their view of the world than in college, surrounded by people who are learning about the world and themselves? Why not discuss good literature, share your ideas, and enjoy some good pizza or snacks together?
The Inklings Project is here to provide you with a little help with the snacks and give you some ideas for your group meetings while you're starting up your club and working towards formal university recognition. Our goal is for you to learn and enjoy being in a community of students who have similar groups at other colleges. Every Inklings student group will look quite different from one campus to the next — and that is how it should be!
Your only obligation is to keep us in the loop and tell us what's going on in your group.
How We Can Help:
Assistance in creating a vision for the club, including help with the group’s constitution to be submitted for official university student group status
Access to ideas for club meetings, group readings, and possible events
$100 semesterly gift card to help support pizza and soda or similar student support before the club receives official university status
Connection to student groups from different universities together (a semesterly leadership Zoom call and addition into a group message to share best practices and to plan multi-group events)
Inclusion in national Inklings student groups social media pages that share Inklings-related events and opportunities
What We Need from You:
A Zoom call at the beginning of the semester to hear about the club: what are the plans for this upcoming semester and what happened last semester
Participation in semesterly Zoom workshops with other Inklings student group leaders from across the country
A rough idea of how you plan to spend funds (e.g., on snacks, books, etc.)
